Homogenix Gold – MC-cartridge made of precious wood

17.12.2024 12:26 | ~1 minute read

Homogenix Gold is a very interesting MC-cartridge for vinyl turntables. The highlight of the system is the body made of year 1512 fir wood, as the company claims, a real treasure, akin to the wood from which Stradivarius violins were made. Homogenix Gold’s incredible sound reproduction capabilities are also achieved by using High End materials in other parts of the cartridge – a sapphire cantilever, a diamond stylus with Micro Ridge sharpening and coils wound with pure 7N copper.

Specifications include 30 dB channel separation, a cartridge impedance of 16 Ohms and an output voltage of 0.22 mV. The recommended tracking force is 2.2g (± 0.3g). The icing on the cake is the exquisite cartridge body shell, made from silver 930 gold plating.

The current feedback amplification topology and powerful power supply of the new Accuphase A-48S amplifier provides a large reserve and stable output in pure Class A. For a load with an impedance of 8 ohms, 50 watts are available, and halving the load impedance doubles the output power. With a short-term drop in load impedance to 1 ohm, the amplifier is capable of delivering a power of 400 watts.

Remton audio 481 MK2 – a Tube Phonostage Based on NOS Tesla Resistors

The Czech audio equipment manufacturer Remton Audio has introduced a tube (4 x JJ ECC81) phono preamplifier with Remton audio 481 MK2 Limited edition – this approach is explained by the use of NOS Tesla resistors with a deviation of only 0.25 dB in the range from 20 Hz to 50 kHz. These resistors are quite rare, so the circulation of both the first and second versions of the phono preamplifier is limited.
