The new Nagaoka MP-700 cartridge tops the Moving Permalloy (MP) series and will be available in the standard MP-700 and premium MP-700H versions. Compared to conventional moving magnet (MM) cartridges, the Moving Permalloy (MP) variant features a lighter permalloy magnet attached to the cantilever. This design significantly reduces the moving mass, allowing the stylus to move with greater freedom and precision – which, according to the company, guarantees a more open and detailed sound.
The Nagaoka MP-700 cartridge features a boron cantilever and a diamond tip sized – this combination further enhances detail. It is also worth noting the softest damper, allowing the cantilever to operate in ideal conditions, improving responsiveness. The integrated suspension wire, which controls the movement of both the cantilever and the stylus, is responsible for the stability of playback.
The Nagaoka MP-700 is housed in a shielded housing and uses a base made of duralumin, improved by a three-layer surface treatment (nickel plating, black tinning and insulation coating), which minimizes static interference on the structure.
The Nagaoka MP-700 series cartridges will go on sale worldwide from May 13, 2025, to commemorate the company's 85th anniversary. The recommended retail price for the standard version of the MP-700 is $1,399, while the premium version of the MP-700H is offered for $1,499.

Sennheiser has introduced the Sennheiser ACCENTUM Open TWS headphones – the model, designed in a stylish compact design, promises, according to the manufacturer, exceptional comfort during use and a secure fit.
The Ranieri Audio Labs Varieta preamplifier has been released – the model uses directly heated triodes and allows for a wide range of tubes (300B, 2A3/6A3, 12A/201A, 26, 30, 31, 45, 50, 71A, 801A/10Y, 275A/252A, 245 and 842/VT52 will do). Simply ideal for those wishing to experiment with tube rolling.
Accuphase has introduced the Accuphase C-57 phono preamplifier, based on a fully balanced circuit design from output to input with dual mono topology. The Accuphase C-57 also uses a two-stage solution: the first stage is the output stage to ensure matching with MM and MC cartridges, the second stage is the correction amplifier itself.
Last year, Goldmund launched the impressive Goldmund Rhea and Theia acoustics in active versions with a wireless streamer. The all-in-one solution certainly looked brilliant, but High-End fans often prefer component systems. So now the company has introduced the Goldmund Rhea and Theia loudspeakers in a Passive version.
Stratton Acoustics has introduced two models of compact bookshelf loudspeakers – Element 6 and Element 8. Both speakers use the company’s patented soft dome tweeters with a diameter of 29 mm, equipped with a waveguide to provide wide sound dispersion. The models are hand-assembled at the company’s own factory in England.
