Wharfedale Aura 3 – floorstanding loudspeakers with AMT tweeter

07.01.2025 05:11 | ~1 minute read

Wharfedale Aura 3 accumulates the developments of the senior branded Elysian series of High End class, but at the same time they are available at a more affordable price. The Wharfedale Aura 3 loudspeakers are made in a three-way scheme, which provides not only a powerful bass, but also detailed midrange frequencies.

Wharfedale Aura 3 is equipped with 2x low-frequency woofers with a 5” Kevlar diffuser. The midrange is entrusted to a 4” driver with a fiberglass dome, and the high-frequency range is voiced by an AMT ribbon emitter, which is the company's own development. AMT tweeters from Wharfedale use a folded diaphragm located in a strong magnetic field, which generates sound waves with high accuracy, eliminating the effect of reducing detail, usually inherent in traditional dynamic heads. The tweeter frame design effectively reduces distortion caused by reflections of sound waves. The emitter has a wide directivity pattern and maintains a constant response across the entire frequency range. Wharfedale Aura’s peak sound pressure level is 104 dB.

The Wharfedale Aura 3 loudspeakers are equipped with a slotted bass reflex, the output of which is directed into the cavity at the bottom of the speaker. This design allows the bass to spread in all directions, which significantly reduces the influence of the room on the quality of low frequencies.

Rotel DX-5 – a Tiny Amplifier Operating in Class A/B

Rotel DX-5 is a compact model, but despite its dimensions, the device does not use digital amplification and operates in class A/B, reaching 2 x 33 W into 4 Ohm load and 2 x 25 W into 8 Ohm speakers. The new product is equipped with a power supply based on a powerful toroidal transformer created by Rotel itself, and high-current transistors.
